AFTERCARE

Reduce Swelling & Speed Healing

• Apply ice to reduce swelling, but do not place ice directly on the skin.

Use a paper towel as a barrier.

• Take Ibuprofen as needed to manage swelling and discomfort.

• Stay hydrated to support healing.

• Tip: Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine, as these can dehydrate you

and slow the healing process.

Dermshield Aftercare

• It’s normal for Dermshield to collect blood, plasma, and ink. Do not drain or puncture it.

• If the Dermshield causes irritation, remove it and switch to standard aftercare.

• Remove within 24 hours of the initial application.

• Gently peel back the Dermshield in the shower with warm water and unscented soap.

• Reapply Dermshield only to a clean, dry tattoo.

• Limit use to 3 days total. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

Standard Bandage (No Dermshield)

• Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.

• Remove the bandage and discard.

• Gently wash the tattoo with warm water and unscented soap.

• Use only your hands to apply soap and clean your tattoo.

• Allow the tattoo to air dry or pat it gently with a clean paper towel.

• Apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare ointment.

• Repeat this washing and ointment process 2-3 times daily.

• Avoid over-washing or washing too frequently, which can irritate the tattoo.

• After about 1 week, stop using ointment and begin applying unscented lotion

1-2 times daily to keep the tattoo moisturized.

Ongoing Care (Dermshield or Standard Bandage)

• Avoid tight clothing that may rub against the tattoo for 2 weeks.

• Do not submerge the tattoo in water (baths, pools, hot tubs, lakes, oceans, etc.).

• Do not expose the tattoo to direct sunlight until fully healed.

• Once healed, use sunscreen to prevent fading.

Monitor for Healing Concerns

• Excessive swelling, redness, pain, or fluid secretion could be signs of infection.

• If the area feels overly warm to the touch or shows streaks of red

contact your tattoo artist or a medical professional.

• Always reach out to your tattoo artist or Doctor, do not rely on internet advice for serious concerns.
